Solomzi Phenduka Early Life and Education

Sol was born 18th of February, 1987 being brought into the world in Johannesburg. Since he was 16 years old, he has been working as a music producer.

After realizing that he wasn’t happy as a teenager rapping under the name Savage in Vosloorus, his single mother bought him a computer, and he started making hip-hop beats. Later, he switched over to making house beats.

He began his career in music as a rapper, but he realized that he wasn’t happy with that. He received his matriculation diploma from St. Francis College in Benoni in the year 2006. 2011 marked the year that he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Johannesburg.

Solomzi Phenduka Career

His first single, “Mount Zion,” was released in 2010, and it was included on his self-titled debut album, which was released in 2012. In 2011, he issued his third single, which was titled “Uhuru.” This song is credited with putting him on the map in South Africa. After completing the Y academy internship program and becoming a Yfm intern for a period of six months, Sol became a cohost on the newly formed “Flava In Da Mornin” breakfast show alongside Mo Flava in the year 2010.

After inappropriate comments were made on the air nationwide about a 16-year-old axe attack victim survivor of the van Breda family, who were hacked to death in Stellenbosch, Sol Phenduka was suspended by 5FM for three days in January 2015, leading to the cancellation of the show “Fresh or Vrot.”

The incident occurred after the van Breda family was murdered in Stellenbosch. Sol took to Twitter to apologize for his comments, saying that he didn’t “intentionally offend” anyone with what he said on air, which was that she is “gorgeous” and that he would “like to axe her out,” but that he “wouldn’t make her an X.” Sol said that he didn’t mean to offend anyone with his comments.

Sol Phenduka announced his resignation from 5FM with immediate effect in October 2016, after having worked there for three years on the breakfast show and then going on to get his own show (SOS) due to his growing popularity with listeners. In Week 7, when all of the housemates were put up for a public vote, he was the only one to avoid eviction by receiving 6% of the votes to save. After receiving 1.43% of votes to save, he finished the Final Week 9 competition in fifth place.
